Savory Delicious!

It’s surprising how savory it is without much seasoning. All natural ingredients of oyster, shrimp, cabbage, and topped with roasted “gim” makes this dish so delicious. And with this nutrient-rich cabbage “jug”, you’ll soon be back on the road to recovery. It’s truly a win-win meal! Just be sure to serve it in moderation to keep it special and prevent any mutiny from loved ones. I had this happen before.

Cabbage is rich in vitamin U and calcium, it helps with stomach and bone health, and contains antioxidants sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinol, which have anticancer and anti-inflammatory effects. It is also effective in preventing constipation and dieting because it is rich in dietary fiber. It is also rich in vitamin C, which promotes skin health, and contains potassium and iron, which contribute to blood health and strengthen immunity.

Ingredients:

  • Cabbage: 5 oz
  • Carrot: ½ ea
  • Shrimp: 5 ea
  • Oyster: 3 ea
  • Leftover short-grain rice: 6 oz

  • Salt: 1 pinch
  • Roasted and salted gim (seaweed): 1 pack
  • Roasted sesame seeds: 2 pinches (optional)
  • Sesame oil: ½ teaspoon (optional)

Prep & Cooking:

  • Prep: 3 minutes
    • Dice the carrot into cubes slightly larger than ¼ inch.
    • Chop the cabbage into ⅜-inch rectangles, then wash and strain it.
    • Cut the shrimp and oysters into small, bite-sized pieces.

    1. In a pot with boiling water, add the leftover rice and separate lumps.
    2. Add the shrimp and oysters and cook on medium-high heat for 3 minutes.
    3. Add the carrot and chopped cabbage. TIP1> When cooking the cabbage, simmer it until a bit of crispness left, as overcooking can diminish its nutrients.
